Acupuncture
The Chinese philosophy behind acupuncture is a bit more complicated as the ancient practice isn’t traditionally based on science and medicine. Traditional Chinese Medicine has been in use for thousands of years. This ancient form of medicine is based on an ancient philosophy that describes the universe, and the body, in terms of two opposing forces: yin and yang. When these forces are in balance, the body is healthy. Energy, called “qi” (pronounced “chee”) flows along specific pathways, called meridians, throughout the body. There is no complete translation into English of the word Qi, the best we can do is to call it Vital Energy. Qi is what makes us alive and is what links us to all living things on our planet. Qi circulates around our body, it is what is unseen but enables us to take our first breath, it is what makes living things alive.
This constant flow of energy keeps the yin and yang in balance. However, if the flow of energy gets blocked or disrupted, this will then present as symptoms to the individual.

Sports Massage Therapy
Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity but also for those who suffer from postural problems, aches and pains from work or just running around from day to day life
In Sports Massage Therapy we use a collection of massage techniques which are performed on individuals for the purpose of preventing or aiding; Sport Massage uses different pressure than remedial massage; often it is much deeper and focused on a specific area. The therapist will have a good knowledge of the muscular and skeletal systems and tailor each treatment to each specific client.
Some benefits of Sports Massage are:-
Muscular and joint injuries such as sprains and strains
Back / Postural related pain
Boost circulation and the immune system so that the body heals more quickly
Improve your flexibility and body strength
Muscular preparation for sporting events
Pregnancy Treatments
Acupuncture can help ease aches and pains throughout pregnancy, encourage breech babies to turn from 34 weeks onwards by using moxibustion (however it’s ultimately up to the baby as to whether they will turn), and can also help prepare your body for labour.
Sports Massage Therapy: – It’s very important that all clients who have a Sports Massage during pregnancy are treated in the correct position and we achieve that by using a special pregnancy pillow which allows the client to lie face down with their bump fully protected. By doing so, the client is treated in a neutral position which prevents the muscles in the body from being put under unnecessary stress or exacerbating present conditions. Sports Massage can help relieve the pain caused by sciatica, muscular tension caused by Pelvic Girdle Pain and general back pain, as well as many other pregnancy related conditions.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a natural therapy which woks through reflex points found on the feet and hands. It has its roots in ancient civilizations; Egyptians, Chinese, Africans and the native American Indians all used healing therapies based on treating the feet and hands. The oldest documentation that could be interpreted as the practice of reflexology was brought back to Europe in 1979 by Dr Gwendoline Raines. It consists of an Egyptian papyrus scene dating from 2500BC and depicts the treating of hands and feet of patients by medical practitioners.
Reflexology was introduced and further developed in the Western medical world from 1800s. Eunice D. Ingham – a nurse and physiotherapist developed her theory that each zone or area on the foot contained reflexes which match that of the organs of the body which she mapped out. Eunice was determined that the reflexes on the feet could be traced exactly to the organs of the body.
Using the Theories of Ingham today, we use thumb walking over these zones of the feet/hands to move blockages within the area to relieve pain/congestion, to help aid relaxation from causes of stress, anxiety and to help rebalance the body as a whole.
